Piñatex is a sustainably-produced plant based textile, developed according to the principles of a circular economy. The pineapple leaves are the byproduct of existing agriculture, so no additional land, water, fertiliser or pesticides are utilised.
Pinatex by Ananas Anam
No animal products are used throughout the production of the Sebastian Says Pinatex Collection. There are no harmful chemicals and minimal water use during the process. We only use solid brass hardware that is 'kind' to your dog's skin.
Piñatex is made from the leaves of the pineapple plant, the byproduct of the fruit industry in the Philippines, which are traditionally discarded or burned. Adding value to this waste has created a new source of income for farming communities who otherwise rely on a seasonal harvest. Once the fibre has been stripped from the leaf the leftover biomass is retained to use as a natural fertiliser or biofuel, offering a further economic prospect.
Sebastian Says is proud to be the world’s first to use this very unique product for pet accessories and clothing.
